From: To: ; ; ; Subject: Moorings Bay Tax Dist Meeting Date: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 12:55 PM To: Save The Bays Dear Marilyn, Below is a run down of topics discussed at our meeting today. Jim Rozzi was presented a proclamation from the Collier Country BCC regarding the donation of his boat, equipment and time assisting the FL DEP with regard to underwater surveys. Naples Dock will repair the Doctor's Pass light. The light quit functioning after Wilma. However, Naples Dock is quite busy so it may take awhile to accomplish repairs. It may cost $10,000 to bring all of the navigation signs within Moorings Bay into state FWC compliance. The Taxing District is responsible for the expense and it will be done as soon as it is practical. Missing markers 1 & 2 (lost in Wilma) will be replaced after the dredging is completed. The sign that gives notice of the Park Shore Marina (gas available), may have to be removed as it likely does not comply with state, FWC regulations. So far 20,000 cubic yards have been dredged from Doctor's Pass with 40,000 more cubic yards to go. Good weather has the dredger ahead of schedule. If good weather holds, dredging could be finished in about 10 more days. Some rock has been found in areas of the settling basin, especially off the South jetty. Dredging is currently taking place at the entrance of the pass (the settling basin) and it will soon move into the throat, then into the three bayside approach channels. An attempt will be made to get special permission from FL DEP to dredge an additional 5,000-10,000 cubic yards from the settling basin. Doug Finlay
