Subject: Mooring Bay Citizens Advisory Committee Date: Tuesday, August 15, 2006 3:37 PM Below is a summary of the Moorings Bay Citizens Advisory Committee meeting held on 8/15/06 1. Pier/boat Lift Permit Discussion. Garland and Garland Marine contractors appeared before the committee offering information on two boat pier structures that they would like to build at 265 Springline Drive and 285 Bahia Court. Both are pie-shaped lots that have a limited amount of water frontage (approx 45'). The positioning of each pier would not comply with the city ordinance. Both piers would extend into the perimeter dredge channel. No decision was taken because no formal application has been filed with the city. 2. Doctor's Pass Light. The new light tower is scheduled to be installed next week by Naples Dock and Marine. Total cost for the project is just under $35,000, paid by taxing district funds. 3. Address Numbers. It was discussed that many water front property owners do not have their address displayed on the bay side bulkhead as required by the city code. This will be investigated further in hopes to bring more property owners into compliance. The numbers are useful for police and emergency services. 4. Tax Rate. The Moorings Bay Taxing District millage rate for the coming year will stay at .025. This rate will generate a little less that $40,000 in revenue for the district. In addition to earned interest, all expected expenses should be covered with no increase in the millage rate. 5. Jetty. Discussion was made with regard to repairs to the Doctor's Pass north jetty. The city has budgeted monies in the coming fiscal year to cover engineering and permit fees for adding badly needed rock.. Construction costs will be included in the following (2nd) year budget. At least partial TDC reimbursement to the city is expected. Doug Finlay
